Understanding Therapy Approaches:

  • Talk Therapy.

Licensed clinicians will assess, diagnose, and treat individuals based on the goals developed in a traditional talk therapy setting. We recognize that all of us have experienced some type of trauma in our lives. We explore the impact of this trauma on each person’s self-narrative and their relationships with others.

  • Family Therapy.

Licensed clinicians trained in family therapy will work with clients and their identified family members or significant partners. They help improve communication, support, stress relief, and processing of feelings, needs, roles, and goals developed in therapy. We understand that generational trauma can impact parenting, relationships, and self-view for up to seven generations.

  • Group Therapy.

Licensed master's level clinicians facilitate psychoeducational, dynamic, self-awareness, and support therapy groups. All groups are tailored to meet participants' needs. Best results are achieved with full commitment to attending and participating in all sessions. Group offerings vary based on need and interest.

  • Play Therapy.

Play Therapy uses therapeutic interventions by specially trained therapists, building on children's normal communication and learning processes. In Play Therapy, toys are the child's words, and play is the child's language. It helps children change their thoughts, feelings, and resolutions. We use a neurosequential developmental approach.

  • Thera Play.

TheraPlay-based techniques enhance a child's attachment, sense of security, and self-esteem through four components: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. These techniques strengthen the caregiver-child bond and help establish structure and boundaries in their relationship.

  • Trauma & Attachment Specialty.

Trauma-informed care providers use concepts and strategies from Attachment Theory, the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, somatic interventions, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Collaborative Problem Solving. We treat symptoms and dynamics resulting from traumatic experiences. We specialize in working with children and adults who have experienced disrupted attachment due to foster care, abuse, neglect, medical trauma, caregiver trauma, or substance abuse.
